Marine Applications

FPSO Enterprise
The Slop tank was to be completed near the end of the project and due to the sensitive equipment on board, grit blasting could no longer be used and was replaced by hydrojetting.

Temperatures were in the 35 – 38 degrees C and the humidity was 98%.

MCU-Miozinc primer is the world’s first and only surface tolerant zinc primer that is also recommended for immersion and is compatible with anodes.

FPSO Peace
Ballast tanks, water tanks, grey & black water tanks, slop tank, Exterior decks, Heli-deck, external modules & piping, accommodation house, all misc. structural steel and flame tower using MCU high-heat coatings.

the accommodation house, weather decks and structural steel was coated several years previously with a one-coat system of inorganic zinc. This coating was failing for approx. 35% and the rest was naturally covered with zinc salts.

MCU’s unique MCU-Miozinc primer was used to solve the corrosion and adhesion problems and is the world’s first and only surface tolerant zinc primer that is also recommended for immersion and is compatible with anodes.

Lisnave Shipyard, Portugal
in 2005 new steel for previous cargo tank converted to ballast tanks was coated.

New shop primed steel had surface preparation of water washing to remove contaminants, ST 3 on weld seams and areas of corrosion, SP1 solvent cleaning to remove oil splatter near hot work.

JP Pederson and Sons
MCU-Coatings was used for more than three years in the cargo holds of MV Elbe Ore. There was also a significant reduction of waste and no hold up for any climatic reasons as compared to other coatings they used.

The long term corrosion protection, adhesion and abrasion resistance has proven to be excellent. The cargo is principally iron ore and coal, which is very aggressive in terms of abrasion.

Spliethoff RoRo Kraftca
This was the 1st of a series of 10. The coatings have to be applied in often cold and damp conditions. In fact during the 1st weather deck
application, it started raining during the last few minutes of the application.

The superintendent confirmed he was extremely pleased with the results considering that this vessel had gone through severe abuse with carrying of heavy cargo including military tanks with no coating cracking or any signifi cant wear. The decks were free of any corrosion or worn areas. The aft ramp non skid was totally intact.

Wagenborg S Class RoRo Vessels
The three vessels are loading special CQ containers every 2 days for Stora Enso with a paper load up to 80 tons on custom trailers with steel wheels. The mechanical impact and abrasion is the worst imaginable.

After 3 months of testing, MCU’s was the only intact system. Now, three years later, the MCU system is still in perfect condition.

All three vessels were protected using the MCU system. The owner was also very pleased saving money on the paint system and the surface prerparation.
